Hi, new to this so i really hope someone out there can help. Bought new laptop for my daughter from Dell 30/03/09, it wouldnt work on 28/05/09, after reporting to Dell same day and having no call back after several attempts at getting some help, we were then told she wasnt entitled to a refund, even if faulty after 7 days. We could have an engineer call at a £60 charge, which i flatly refused to pay. The engineer finally called on friday (nearly 3wks after first requesting assistance). The hard drive was damaged, so he replaced it, and when asked he told us this was very uncommon to go after such a short time. Does anyone know how i stand on demanding a full refund as dell have not answered my emails or requests for a call back. I paid by credit card but they say they cant do anything, any help will be greatfully received, many thanks0

Why do you want a refund if it's fixed?0

because im not at all happy with how we've been treated and i dont think a brand new laptop should break down after 8wks, also taking 3wks to come out to see to it while my daughter is in middle of exams is diabolical.0

I doubt you'll get a refund, but you might get a sweetener if the service was below the level of the warranty supplied with the laptop. Some come with onsite warranty, some come with return to base.
Hard disks are moving parts, they fail sometimes, they aren't made by Dell.0 -
Got a result from Dabs.com
I took Scullsters adivce from this thread and wrote them a letter, and included a dossier of evidence reagrding the wide spread Nvidia fault, also mentioned in this thread.
They have come back to me and offerered a partial refund of £480, of the £670 it cost. They argued that I have had 15 months use from it, which I think is fair enough.
In short, very pleased with the result!!
