ENDSLEIGH HOME INSURANCE - as advertised on this website and quidco

I went through Quidco to get Endsleigh home insurance (20 pounds cash back) was happy with the quote and was about to press submit when I received a phone call from Endsleigh explaining that they have a problem with the insurance policies going through on the internet at the moment.
So I could complete over the phone. There was a 20 pounds set up fee charge if you wanted to pay my DD so I thought fair enough as im getting my 20 pounds cash back anyways, so I paid this and said I was due to get cashback for going through Quidco so how was this going to affect that and was told " my boss told me we don't do that" I explained they I have seen several advertisments to the contrary. It was too late by this time as I had already paid my money.
Myself and my partner phoned that day to cancel and was told the system was down. I have just phoned today and they tried to charge me 20 pounds fee to cancel within the cooling off period, I explained that I had already paid a 20 pound set up fee and was told that was a seperate thing all together.
In the end they just kept my original 20 pounds and didn't make and further charges, but im here I am now 20 pounds down and no contents insurance.
In hindsight I know believe that this was done so they could avoid paying out customers cash back. Thought it best to let everyone on here know incase it happens to them.

I have heard of some (reputable???) insurance firms phoning you after you submit online (just to make sure you're happy and have ticked the boxes for everything you want correctly) surely this isn't their way of avoiding paying out on Quidco...or is it?...
For genuine tracked transactions completed wholly online, you can earn:
£20for a valid policy by a new customer
this may be the get-out clause....
UPDATE:...just tried an online quote for my daughter via the Quidco site...didn't go ahead with it (too pricey to be honest) and guess what...JUST GOT A PHONE CALL FROM ENDSLEIGH...so if I had bought....I wonder would that be a reason for Quidco/Endsleigh not to pay?I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

Exactly but I thought if there was a problem with there system as they say, they could do Quidco manually as sometimes quidco doesn't track but they can sort it out for you another way.
They were trying to deny that they offer Quidco full stop despite me mentioning I have seen it advertised. If the company doesn't offer Quidco why would the manager take the time to say we don't offer Quidco surely there would be no need to mention it and obviously it would not be advertised.
But it is advertised with several cashback sites and on MSE as one of the top cashback payers so maybe they have had much more interest then they had bargained for.Official DFW Nerd number 227
