Trojan?

Morning

I think I may have a virus I got a message from Kaspersky when I opened my hotmail account to say there is a high risk that some kind of trojan is there which can steal my passwords

I performed a full scan on Kaspersky and it says my computer is protected.

Is there anything else I need to do I am not confident that I have covered all the bases.

Also do I leave Kaspersky running whilst I perform the tasks you are going to tell me to perform?

Many thanks in advance

When you open hotmail, is it through a web browser or do you have it built into some other email client? (Outlook, Express, Windows Mail, Safari, Mac Mail, etc?)

If the latter then I would be concerned it is onto something. Check your most recent emails for anything with attachments. If you dont recognise attachments, delete the email and delete it again to be sure.

If you want another means for checking malware I would suggest malware bytes. Does a similar job to Kaspersky but more specifically for malware than viruses:

    http://malwarebytes.org/

Download that, update it, run a full scan. If that says you are clean and Kaspersky says clean I'd say you probably are ok and that it was just a warning message. In which case, check as above.

That sounds like phishing protection to me, not a trojan. As long as you didnt enter your login details on that site you should be fine. If you did then just change your password in hotmail and you'll be fine.
