Credit check for overdraft increase? (Barclays)

I know this isn't technically credit cards, but thought some of you in here may know the answer as you may know more about credit checks
I already have an overdraft with Barclays on my student account. I am within my overdraft. Trouble is I have a late payment marker within the last 12mths.
Will Barclays increase my overdraft based on my behavioural score? This must be good as not missed any payments, got loads of green 0's from 12 years. Or do they do a credit check? If so, I suppose I'll be declined?
Thanks!

When I first opened my Bank of Scotland account, they did a credit check and said I was eligible for an overdraft. Since then, my overdraft has varied over the months from £2000 to as high as £5000.
Theres a section on my online banking which tells me the guaranteed overdraft I can apply to my account, and that sometimes changes so I'm assuming that it goes by my behavioural score.
Not entirely sure if Barclays works like this, I'm sure someone could tell you. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I don't bank with Barclays, so I don't know, maybe someone can confirm. From what I recall, HSBC use their internal behaviour score to determine most overdraft increases.
Have you tried asking them whether they use the internal score for this request?0 -
I bank with Barclays, and when you go into your online banking page - there is a heading that says - pre-approved offers (on the left hand side of the page) - on my accounts it outlines what overdraft we could apply for and what sort of loan we could get (all preapproved) - quite scarey really!0

Login to Barclays online banking. It tells you on the left 'Pre-approved limits' section how much of an overdraft you can have before being credit checked.

Thanks, I don't have a pre-approved limits bit though
I don't know whether it's because I have a student account? Maybe I can't get a higher overdraft
I might give them a ring but I'll ask whether they use an internal score or credit search, if the latter then I'll leave it. 0 -
Hi,
I also have a student additions account with Barclays, the interest free overdraft on the student account is given at the discretion of the personal banker in branch or the adviser you speak to over the phone, every time i have wanted an increase it has been granted (Find it is easier in branch though - as the call centre staff are very particular on the reason for the overdraft). From what i understand it is a non-credit scored product and is based entirely on the discretion.
So if you have a valid reason for needing the overdraft and have shown regular credits (Particulary student loans payments if applicable) there shouldn't be any problems.
Hope this helps
