Quiz Call - rip off!?

My mum has made a few calls to this premium rate number - they charge 60p /min even if you do not get through. Anyway, whenever she makes any calls (has made around 10 in the past) she buys extra credit from BT to cover it.
She has just received a bill from BT for 80 calls to quiz call (27 of them on Christmas night) at strange times. BT have said that the calls came from her line but she says no. BT has said that she should contact QC to try to resolve.
Has anyone come across this before? Any advice would be great

Unfortunately BT are correct. If they have a call record then the call will have been made. Don't forget you will be billed for every call made even if you receive 'unfortunately you have not been successful this time' meassage.
I'm sure I read that this program is being taken off ITV1 in August0 -
I think it is actually Quiz Call which is available on Freeview and Sky. You can actually submit your answer through their website and wait (probably until X'mas) for them to call you back if you win. Call charges are 60p per call not per minute but you will still get charged if they do not put your call through to the studio.

Hi, The calls would have been made, so you are liable to pay the charges. The billing system that BT use is very accurate, and controlled automatically. it's not possible for the billing system to add number's to bills, that have not been dialled. Quite often with these quiz lines, you tened to get carried away and to use the redial function, and loose track of the amount of times your calling. BT's billing system is checked regularly, and any faults are pciked up by a robotic system. If there was a fault with the billing system, you would be charged for all types of calls, not just calls to 09 numbers. I'm afraid you'll have to pay up and let this be a lesson learnt! The views expressed on this website, be they in text, pictures or sound, are my own personal views. Hi my friend has just had bt bill, it was enormous, she had phoned around 10 times for quizz 60p even if you dont get through, it stated that she had rang 67 times and they stated that she has rang this number on her next bill which she has not.... something is wrong, they are taken money for calls not made, this needs investigation.... but how?0 -

as i say above, the calls must have been made. Its up to the user to control there usage, not bt. the calls will be valid! The views expressed on this website, be they in text, pictures or sound, are my own personal views. Not those of my employer, its staff or colleagues.0 -
If you keep ringing the number you get charged even if you dont get through.
Quote from their site
"It is important to note that all telephone calls are charged, whether you get to answer the quiz or not."
If you dont want a big bill dont ring the number,or bar premium rate calls on your line.0
