Ikano/New Look Claim - Any Ideas?

I sent a letter to Ikano asking for £84 worth of charges to be repaid. After a month they replied saying that I hadn't brought my dissatisfaction with their charges to their notice before but they were willing to pay 50%, ie £42.
I replied on 26 may with a Letter Before Action. On 29 May I had the identical letter as before come to me from Ikano, offering £42. Did they receive my LBA and still only offer me 50%? Have they written to me again, since I didn't respond to their first for about 5 weeks, not realising I was rejecting their offer? Do I assume they've had the LBA (I didn't send it recorded)?
Should I ring them? Write another LBA? Or just start proceedings against them?

Ring them ask them whether £42 was their final offer and how they have come to that figure

Well, they're offering 50% of what I asked for, which was £84. Do you really think I should ring them....I prefer to do these things by letter. I think I'll just go ahead and make a Moneyclaim against them. I did one against Ikano a few years ago and got everything I asked for without having to go down the court route so I guess I'm just surprised that they're trying to play hardball now.

lol, apologies but one option you asked was ringing them so that is why I suggested you did that. Keep us updated on your progress.
