Direct Ferries, No refund after almost 2 months

On the 15th of April I booked a mini cruise to Amsterdam online for my birthday using Direct Ferries. An hour later, after telling my mother about it, she had to admit she had arranged a surprise party for me with some of my family flying in from my home country. I checked the terms and conditions of my booking and realised that I could get a refund (minus a small fee, which of course I was willing to swallow) as I had purchased the cancellation plan.

The website stated all refunds are "usually completed within 28 days"

I waited for the 28 days and when no money was refunded I rang them. I was told that the insurance firm dealing with their cancellation plan was Swiss and I had hit a peak bank holiday period in Switzerland. I figured I'd give it another few days then I called again. There was obviously notes on my file as the person on the phone sighed and said "as you have been told before, there is a delay due to bank holidays"

So patiently I waited till Thursday of last week and called them again. I was told my refund had been processed and would be back in my account on friday or if not then monday at the latest. It wasn't in on friday, so this morning I trotted off to the all night tesco garage to buy some milk and bread and to draw some money out to get me to work. Checked the balance of my account and surprise surprise no refund is there!!

I'm going to ring them again this morning but do I still wait patiently or do I start demanding a refund there and then?

I understand that it's my fault for cancelling the booking but surely a refund shouldn't take almost 2 months??

Advice anyone?

    Hi,

I would ask the day they actually processed the repayment .... for example if they only did it Thursday, well it could take 5 working days to hit your account ... did they tell you which account they put it back on to?
