Insuring a Cat. D write off, and working in a scrap yard...help?

I work in a scrap yard. I don't buy or sell cars (although I am present for the online auctions) and my actual role at work is advertising parts (anything from engines to indicator arms) on eBay, replying to questions and packaging the goods to be sent out. I'm really not sure what my job description is and whether insurance companies will just class me as being connected to the scrap/motor trade and not cover me. I do 3 days a week, totalling around 23 hours.

To make it more complicated the car I'm looking to insure has previously been written off as a Cat D. I've been reading up on write offs and have found some conflicting info, some people saying that it makes no difference to the insurance companies and others saying that they (ins. co) wouldn't touch them with a bargepole

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I know the easiest thing to do is to contact the insurance company but I won't actually own the car until Wednesday at the earliest so I thought I'd ask for some advice on here first. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!
