hi all
Gave my daughter our old computer into her room but it's like treacle and i wanted to do a system restore but thanks to our previous housing issues we have lost all the discs for the comp. can i create a disc that would enable me to then wipe everything off?
any ideas.

could i now ask for someone to check hi jack log in post three. trying to speed up the PC as i cant restore it.

You need an OS disk to do a reinstall. But you could do a factory restore if that is on a hidden partition on the HD. Newer PC's tend to have that, older ones don't, depends on make/model.

You have Norton GoBack on your computer. You need to remove (uninstall) this before you do a system restore on your computer! (Goback finds it's way into the MBR of the hard drive so it's still going to be there even after you format unless you uninstall it first)

Theres nothing major running in the log as far as I can tell

go into SERVICES and switch off microsofts INDEXING service


Reset internet explorer

1. Open Internet Explorer .
2. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Under Reset Internet Explorer Settings, click Reset.
