A bible concordance if she/he hasn't already got one, a cross and chain, a translation of the bible that s/he hasn't already got eg 'The Message' - bible in modern day English?0

A holding cross if they're into that kind of thing. Google it for some pictures.
A recording of some sacred music if they like listening to music.
Do they need vestments? They don't come cheap ... there might be a fund set up, I know some vicars have special stoles with meaningful symbols embroidered on them.
I'm assuming CofE here, btw, if it's not do say.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Yes, fantastic ideas. I am goin to ring my Aunt and find out what she already has........I was talking to her on facebook the other day and she was telling me about the 'outfit' she said it makes all vicars look like the vicar of dibley!

I'm being ordained next month, and I would advise not buying bibles/books, as we have so many already, there is a strong chance of duplication.
I would appreciate a lovely, personal card, and the ideal gift for me would be a wesley owen book token - we spend a fortune on texts, but that way we can chose what we need at the time.0 -
My cousin was ordained a while ago. After the service we had a celebration meal and she received some geat presents. Book vouchers and cheques were welcomed, her sister bought black pyjamas and added a dog collar and created vicars pj's! I bought a lovely wicker picnic basket to impress on the parish picnics! Have a lovely day0

I'd second the book shop voucher, or you could ask if there is a book she'd like and get that for her. If you got a voucher you could always include a 'sunday school prize giving' kind of slip that they could stick into the book to remind them who bought what ever they chose with the token......what a bad sentense but you know what I mean I hope!

I'd suggest a card, maybe a photoframe with the date engraved on it.0 -
