Temporary Car Insurance

Hi Guys,
Just a quick one...my car insuarance is due for renewal on June 20th but I am going away for a year on Sept 5th and will be selling my car before I go. What is the best way to go about obtaining insurance for the next 2 1/2 months...buying a ful years premium and then cancelling when the car is sold or paying in monthly installments and then just cancelling? Or are there any specific insurers who would just offer me 3 months cover?
Cheers

there are some places that offer temporary cover - but they are a lot more expensive
I would go for an annual policy and then just cancel part way through. I wouldn't go for paying in installments, as they usually load the premium so you end up paying loads more anyway. Just check the cancellation charges and make sure they give pro-rata cancellation not anything less.
Bear in mind if you have a claim before you leave then the entire years premium will be payable anyway, so you won't get any refund. In this case if you had opted to pay for installments they would still insist on you continuing to pay for all installments anyway.Indecision is the key to flexibility
