When is Economy 7 worth it?

Hi paceinternet,
E.ON can definitely put people on to a single rate tariff if they have an Economy 7 meter without doing anything to the meter.
Customers with a single rate meter wanting an Economy 7 tariff however would need the meter exchanging.
A meter exchange would take place or some work done to the meter set up is if a customer had a different type of meter to E7 and wanted a single rate tariff, i.e. Heatwise, RHT or Economy 10.
These guidelines are the same in all distribution areas.
If you were advised or know someone who was told this wasn’t the case, and that the meter needed changing this was definitely wrong:eek:, I am sorry if the information you were given was incorrect.:o
Any questions feel free to give me a shout.

We have just changed to E-ON as the lady salesperson that came to my door assured me that we can come off economy 7. We have gas central heating and we don't have anything on at night that isn't on during the day and the only appliance we have with 'delay start' is a dishwasher that we put on when it's full, maybe twice a week.
We haven't had the first bill yet and I'm hoping we won't have bigger bills, but we'll see.
Thanks for all the replies...
I emailed E-ON and I had a lovely lady ring me back and confirm that I am definately NO LONGER on Economy 7!
I'm looking forward to the bills coming in over the year (if it is possible to look forward to bills!) to compare my yearly bills.

The break even depends on the prices they charge for the two tiers and any standing charges (or the higher cost for first n units, which is the same thing).
In my case the break even was very high, something like 60% of E7 use to make it worth having.Happy chappy0
