Afternoon exam went on longer than planned so now chasing my tail - need to be at cricket across town in 30 minutes. Picked up work for tomorrow and Wednesday to so flying will be just a flutter this week and back on board next week - have to take the work whilst it is there. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

How can an exam go on longer than planned, surely if it is a 2 hour exam then that is what it is, 2 hours ??

Well, i've decluttered 477 words of a 3000 word assignment. It really needs bulking out with research papers now...off to search the internet!
Dog walked again, funeral attended (it was a friend's dad who I didn't know but went for her - beautiful service), washing load done.
I'm going to try and get to 1000 words before DH comes home with DD. xx0 -
Welcome Mambury
Michelle - Dusty's sit on a chair is a good method. Another one which a psychologist mentioned to my bro when he did a heroic thing (he got a Royal Humane Award for it) but he kept getting flashbacks. The guy talked about partitioning it - setting aside a time of day to sit down and think about it all and then refusing to think about it at other times. It worked.
xx_Jo_xx - how lovely to see you again!
Welcome Sunshinesheli
Welcome SiannieLaz
kazw - what size are you looking for - can you think laterally - yoghurt pots, cut down litre drink bottles (both with holes in the bottom for drainage) Even an old tin can perhaps with holes punched in the bottom?

Well, I'm home and pretty knackered. All I can say about Newport is it's a long way to go to take the dog for a walk.
The new bridge was surprisingly OK. I have a problem with roads which have a steep drop on my left hand side and I tend to go a bit wobbly on bridges for that reason (my fear of heights coming into play). I took a deep breath as we approached the bridge but it was fine. There was a middle lane which I could I could use and there's a high barrier so I felt quite secure and didn't have a wobble at all. And Rosepink - the toll was manned and gave change so I was OK on payment.
We found it extremely funny to discover you have to pay to get into Wales it's free to leave...
We got to Newport just after 10am so had plenty of time to find somewhere to park. We had a bacon bap and a cup of tea in a little cafe right by the passport office then the appointment time came up (11.30). DS went in and I lurked outside with BB. I have to say Newport dwellers seem to be great dog lovers. In the 20 minutes I stood there, I had almost as many people come up and make a fuss of BB and have a quick chat.
Then DS came out and said "Do you want the good news or the bad news?". The good news was that there was absolutely no problem with his application, pictures etc. and they were accepted without the need for any of the extra documents like birth certificates etc. we'd taken with us.The bad news was their systems were down, had been all morning and they had no idea when they would be up again so couldn't guarantee the 4 hour max wait. So DS ended up paying for the 7 day service because he quite rightly thought that we couldn't spend all day and night there and he didn't want me to have to drive back again tomorrow. I just couldn't believe it!
So we hummed and hahed and took a touristy route back. We stopped at Bradford on Avon for lunch - what a beautiful town that is. We ate at a pub on the river. We then went and had a look at Stonehenge and finally got back here about 40 minutes ago.
But, we had absolutely no hold ups anywhere on the journey and the weather, although cloudy a lot of the time, was absolutely perfect for driving. And it was nice to have some quality time and a day out with DS. He bought me lunch and a coffee at Stonehenge (I don't often drink coffee but I was beginning to flag by then so needed the caffeine boost)..
I am now absolutely pooped. And am having a very stiff Gordons. I think I've earned it...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

I am so not in the mood for doing anything this afternoon - good job I did so much this morning!
However, I am rather peckish so will go and get on with dinner. And while it is cooking I will wash up and do the window sill. And then DH will come home and want the lappy so I will put his receipts in date order then to keep me amused while I can't get on here IYSWIM. See I have it all planned out! :rotfl:
Welcome SunshineSheli and SianneLiz
Glad your friend is ok Catznine and I hope she makes a quick recovery
Moam you could put the pressure cooker in the paper, on freecycle or ebay…
Mudders, hope you get your assignment done
Soappie, I know it always makes me chuckle that you have to pay to get into Wales (quite a lot IMO) and it's free to leave! You'd think they'd want to keep people and would make it the other way round!
