Putting a trip to Asia on the Card

I'd love feedback from ya'll on my plan to pay for our trip this coming September.
I've never card-tarted, since we pay off the balance every month, but now I have to get creative.
My husband & I have to go to Sydney in September for a wedding. We thought since we're probably going to have kids in the next few years, & we'll be out there anyway, this would be an ideal time to see China as well. So we booked the trip; tour of China then on to Sydney, 3 weeks, £6000.00. (actually about a hair under, but it includes EVERYTHING)
Now, we have a policy of never paying interest on ANYTHING (once you get debt free you never want that again). So we either pay cash, or more often, put it on our Virgin Mastercard (for the airmiles of course) & pay it off the following month.
£6000 will still hit us hard though. I used our normal savings account up almost completely when we kinda bought a new car for my dad (long story, but when it comes to my dad, I have to give him anything; hes such a good man, & never had a new car before).
It was a little unexpected (we thought pre-owned, but he LOVED the new one of course) so it wiped our normal savings. I have other accounts I dont dare break (like our ISAs). To put the holiday on the card incurred a 2% penalty, which isnt a problem because we got the tour operator to agree to refund that in cash.
We can put it on our Virgin card, but I'd have to pay it off the following month. I THINK I can save up the money with a little more cutting back, but then I thought about the 0% offers out there. What d'ya'll think if we were to put the whole shebang on a 0% card (we have to pay the balance in June) for 6 months or so? That will really buy me some time. Your input would be so great, as I mentioned, I never tarted before.

Although I always strongly advise not to borrow for a holiday, this time I have a feeling that I can withhold these comments ...
See Best Credit Card for Purchases: when you need to borrow to spend Martin's article and http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.htm ('hover over'
to see information on purchases and see 'PCH' comments on the right). There are up to 10 months 0% on purchases offers now.
P.S. Nationwide card offers 9 months 0% on purchases. If you are lucky to get it with a credit limit higher than £6K you need, you can use the rest for spending abroad - it is the best one for this: The cheapest way to spend overseas: save 6%0
