I've been happily using Google for years and suddenly I've noticed that OpenDns seems to have taken over the search page, anyone know what it is and how to return to "pure" Google ?

Visit the Google homepage that you want, then go to internet options in your browser and set the current page as your homepage. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I still get Google, been using OpenDNS for years. Could you describe the symptoms a little more?Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

If you're searching from the address bar, this is what happens. Many browsers will assume that anything typed in there is a web address, and treat it accordingly. A 'page not found' message is the usual result, but in the case of OpenDNS you'll get redirected to their search page instead.I've noticed that OpenDns seems to have taken over the search page0 -
Try unticking the "Enable OpenDNS proxy" under advanced settings on the OpenDNS dashboard.0

Sorry none of this really helps, although I can see it's close.
The problem is..... I type something in on the address bar (even deliberatly wrong perhaps !) and my default search engine (Google) brings up search suggestions. Nothing unusual there, been happening for years. So why has OpenDNS suddenly appeared in its place ? I don't know what it is and based on the results it produces, I don't need it !0 -
It's a DNS resolution service, among other things. I suggest you ask your resident geek for further details.I don't know what it is and based on the results it produces, I don't need it !
Alternatively - if it bothers you that much - try Google Chrome. You should then be able to search from the address bar to your heart's content without further interference.0 -
Or use the dedicated google search box in your browser instead.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

All the responses here come from people who are obviously comfortable in the presence of OpenDNS (whatever that is). My question remains where did it come from, uninvited?0
