Hi all...
Just wondering if anyone out there has ever been in a situation where they received a new card or made a change to an exisiting card....NOT/NEVER requested the associated card payment protection insurance only to find on receiving your first/next bill it has been plonked on - charge city!
I'm in a situation where they are currently checking my original application to {ahem} see if I requested it or not.
So far been stung with a £70+ hit for cover I never requested on a stooze card. Annoying ! >:(
If so - did your situation resolve okay??
Thanks - Lopo

Don't you take photocopies of paper applications / soft copies of online ones? I always do this as a practice, so helps me resolve such situations immediately...
If you don't have evidence of not having asked for payment protection, best to wait for the issuer to come back with clarifications (though I think since you are the affected party, you'll need to follow up diligently to get to the bottom of this)It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0 -
I scan copies of all apps / info or if I'm a bit lazy take a photo with the digital camera0

Just an update....
The card was opened about 5-7 years ago, before my stoozing days so I never used to be so thorough in keeping copies/records of original apps and all that...
FD realised the error and have removed the charges associated.
On a side note, FD are good but do make a lot of errors generally and can be a bit of a mare at times, but often resolve them pretty well give them enough time......but boy is there hassle in the interim(!).
Its interesting that the lenders keep the original apps or at least an image of them for so long also...

Hi
I've got a question about PPI on credit cards so without starting a new thread and following advice on other threads from Fran I've decided to put it on this one. If it is considered to be rude and/or wrong then I'm sorry about it.
I got my first credit card 2 months ago and I said yes to PPI on the form. I have recently asked for a claim form for the PPI as I'm now unemployed. My question is would claiming for PPI after 2 months of your first credit card count against you with card companies?
Thanks
KevWaddle you do eh?0 -
I can't see how it would count against you, as long as you make a minimum payment until the claim is processed. Might be worth speaking to your CC company to make sure they are aware of the situation & won't put a big black mark against your account if you can't make the minimum payment.
However an ex-coleague of mine was going to claim on his PPI, but was told by the bank (Lloyds I think) that it would be looked on very badly in the future. Not sure why, surely the point of insurance is that you claim on it if you are eligible?0 -
I discovered that I had PPI on my Barclaycard upon receiving my statement. This was after receiving a phone call from an oik trying to sell me the PPI.
I firmly told him I did not want the PPI as it was not worth the money, but he obviously put it on anyway.
I called BC and I got the PPI refunded, but as it is the 0% BT and purchase card I ended up paying interest. They also then refunded 12 months worth of interest to me.
When I checked my statement the next month I was also charged for PPI. When I phoned again I was told that they had refunded the money I had paid, but had not cancelled the insurance, so she again refunded the premium and has assured me that she has cancelled the policy. I wait with baited breath to see if this is true.
Even so, my account shows that I will have interest to pay on my next statement which I will have to phone them to cancel next time. Grr!
It really makes me mad that they phone you up, don't like that you've said no and put the PPI on the account anyway!I'm so sexy it's a wonder my underpants don't explode.0 -
I feel your pain svmitche !
Seems you have the ongoing spiralling version of the mystery PPI phenomena! :-/
@kevtrader, are you unemployed out of choice or was it through redundancy/sickness ? Just curious as the terms and conditions of PPI normally define which is allowed so its wise to check...
Interesting point also by rjlawson - I dont use PPI generally and am now also wondering how or if it is shown on your credit rating as defaults !? Would be a bit annoying if it was. Perhaps they meant viewed upon badly by the bank itself,...its odd.
Has anyone else ever neeeded to claim on PPI and noticed any aftereffects !?
