Poppy - how many Chief Execs get the odd 120k of 'unreceipted expenses' (and how do PMs on less than CEs get the odd £3million+ quidsworth of mortgages.. allegedly).

Oh I think some CEx are getting their perks in - only diff is that TB is more prominent and more news worthy. ;) One's CEx just mutally ended his contract with a welsh council following a period of suspension.

If we all retire at 70 in the future won't you just end up with more people claiming incapacity benefit because if the retirement age is raised then surely the age limit for IB will be raised too. Lets face it - how many people are going to be capable of working to such an age? What will the youngsters do for jobs? Can you imagine your promotion prospects if you start work at 30 (well everyone will still be in further education till then  ) and the rest of the staff in the office are just mere 50 year olds. You'll still be the office junior at 50!!!:D

Poppy got to agree totally with your earlier post. Anybody who has contributed to a particular scheme should gain a pro-rata benefit from that scheme and its nice to see at least one public sector worker understand that something new is needed to replace it.

I have said a few times that I am not convinced that there will be a state pension when I retire however I would still expect to get a pro-rata payment for the number of years I contributed to it ... although given this governments track record they will probably say that only MPs and their families are entitled to it everybody else can do without.

Many people want to retire early and for that they have to save harder ... because they realise that the only ting to support them will be their savings .. they don't expect others to top up their savings during this period. Peoples efforst should be more concentrated on replacing the unworkable existing system with something new .. anybody becoming a public sector worker from TODAY should be put on a money purchase scheme until something is sorted out otherwise the situation is just getting worse.

i expected a more inteligent reply than that karin and here is a tip for stinking bins try recycling

We have a blue wheelie bin for items that can be recycled, we have bought a composter for any garden waste and fruit/veg peelings. We have two rabbits and create about three black bin bags per fortnight of their waste which we personally take to our local waste site Everything else goes in the bin which has not been collected now for over two weeks - what more can we do?

i know you take your rabbit waste to the tip but put it in your composter it will speed the composting up. also put tea bags in and egg shells in.
if you are recycling correct your bin will not be full or stink :T

    And their mistresses;)

At the moment I'm mad with Unison. Found out from BBC news we are out on strike again on 26th April. Nothing from Unison. Also in Wales this is school Easter holidays so all school staff in Unison will not be losing a days pay. Bin men are working their rest day as overtime to make up for the strike day this week, and will no doubt do the same again on the next strike day. There has been a 'no comment' to whether they are paying the money into a strike fund! We were assured in the meeting before strike action that no-one would benefit financially from such action. Thanksangry.gif

My Dad was on strike last week too. He was told that there was a possible 2 day strike action early May. Our local paper reported it as being May 3rd and 4th that would be affected, causing problems due to local elections due to be held 4th may.

Can I deduct 1.5% off my council tax/rates/poll tax (or whatever todays fancy is) since that will make 3 days out of approx 220 working days per year that I have not received any local services?

Are they the first and only ones to be hard done by? What about those poor sould who lost their pensions entirely through no fault of their own?????

At least they WILL get one.

that's a great way to approach life, other people got robbed so you should be robbed too. what all the private sector employees SHOULD be doing is attacking this government (and previous ones) for 1. Raiding pension funds, 2. failing to ensure that pension schemes are properly run and regulated.

The government are using the public sector to divert private sector people's attention away from the real fault here. And besides which, if many people see the public sector pensions as the "gold standard", what will private sector pensions end up like when the gold is downgraded to the "tin standard"??

But hey, the man in the street pays for publc sector pensions (I'll give £10 to charity when the first person can tell me that THEY pay for their own pension, not someone else)... who pays the pension of: Tesco workers? - Tesco shoppers; Bank Employees? - Bank account holders; Journalists? - Viewers / Readers; Plumbers? - householders. We all pay for each others wages / pensions in the final analysis.
