Ending an AST early?

Hi all
Just a quick question.....I live opposite a warehouse which has been obscured both visually and audibly by rows of trees....not ideal but our AST ends in Oct this year, adn we were planning to leave then.
Anyway, I got home yesterday...and all the trees are gone! All been cut down. It is now much noisier, and all the warehouse people can jsut see directly through our window.
They spend alot of time peeping in, either when on breaks or going about their work.
The letting agents claim tehy had no idea it would happen. My neighbours are claiming they are getting out of their AST early as a result of this, can this be done?
Many thanks for all advise in advance, :T

Not unless the LL agrees 'by mutal consent' I think its called and I doubt they will because getting new tenants is likely to be tough...

However, I'd still ring the agents and complain - get them to contact the warehouse and find out if they are replanting...

According to my neighbours, they have done this (I am taking some advice adn thinking about what I want to say 1st!) and they are not replanting, nor replacing with a fence.

When I got out the bath earlier (ground floor) I left the bathroom adn had not cloed the lounge door.........and found people peering in!!! :o

They may well have done but they may be in the rolling part of the contract - in the initial term (usually 6 months) you cannot leave unless both parties agree to it - doesnt mean it isnt worth asking but bear in mind that the LL may well say no - after all you've signed a contract for 6 months...

Not trying to be negative - maybe the LL will say yes and it'll be sorted :D

    It's ok....all helps!
They are not in rolling yet, they are 2 months into their initial period (1 Year) as I am about 8 months into mine (also 1 year)
I will ask tommorrow, but not holding out much hope :(

Shame you're not 6 months in - sometimes there is a break clause in 1 year agreements at six months ;)

But do ask - the LA will have to speak to the LL as well so it may take a little while...do you have the LL's address as well (it should be on the front on the contract or somewhere like that)? You might get more joy writing to them direct if you dont get anywhere with the agent!

    net curtains?
Seriously, your LL is probably as p*ssed off as you are that the trees have all been cut down. Are you in a conservation area? Can you speak to the council about the noise - Enviromental Health will help you with this. RE the lack of privacy & peering in, write a letter, to the warehouse owner, asking them to ensure their staff don't disturb you on their breaks.

Put all your concerns into writing to the letting agency, particularly about the privacy issue. Ask for a written response within two weeks. Someone else might know if this comes under 'quiet enjoyment'?
