Old video recorder and computer equipment - any value?

Hi all

We are currently clearing our loft, a rather onerous task as it has 20 years of 'stuff' in it

Amongst the rubbish going straight to the dump are an old (working) VHS video recorder and bits of computer (screen, processor but very old) in various states of repair.

OH and I are having an argument as I think they may be worth something, even a couple of £'s to someone (although don't know who or where I would sell it) and he thinks we should just deliver it to our Local Authority tip - any advice

There's a chance the computer bits (unlikely the screen) may be of value to someone, but I'd ditch the rest :)
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Darn - don't you hate it when your OH is right :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: And he has now told me that the videos don't work so that even rules out any possibility highlighted by Daily!!!

If you are disposing of the pc, you might want to wipe the hard drive thoroughly with dban. Whether it has any value depends on the specs.

Now it's free to list most items on ebay starting at 99p (or less), why not let the market decide if it's worth anything?

This. There are enthusiasts that need old computer parts, but like anything on ebay it's your luck whether the person who would buy it happens to see your listing on the right day, phase of the moon, etc.

You could try Freecycle to see if its of use to anyone,
I've used an old tv and video to link up with an alarm and camera for the front door and back garden.

I agree with a previous poster, list your items for free with 99p listing, give as accurate information as you can and you can't go wrong, warts and all!
