Post Office Reactivation

Hi everyone!
Apologies if I am repeating a question asked by other members, but most of the discussions I found on this topic were from last year and so I wasn't sure if they were still correct.
I am moving to a new flat in 4 weeks and there is a possibility I will need to get the phone line reactivated. Is it still possible to get this done by the Post Office for free? I would like to go with the PO for line rental because we are on a 6 month lease at the flat and so are trying to avoid lengthy contracts.
We intend to go with Orange for home phone and broadband.
Thanks for your help!

wont the broadband tie you to a lengthy contract? I know O2 allow you to move it once within a 12 month period. But can sign up to plusnet for a month by month contract0

This is something I am going to double check with Orange - we are going to go with the basic 'free' broadband option (I believe it's called Home Starter). Therefore as its free, there should essentially be no contract as I am not paying anything extra monthly for the service? Although in the eyes of Orange I will be in a 12 month broadband contract, it won't make any difference to me as I'll be paying nothing for it anyway?
EDIT: Sorry I should add that I have a pay monthly mobile phone contract with Orange, which makes me eligible for free broadband0 -
Hi,
Have the same situation with you. I'm moving next week. I've called post office and they told me that and engineer will come and inspect the line. So depend on the line, it could be free or they can charge you up to £109 something ( I forgot the exact price). So fingers cross, I'll call them as soon as I've moved in and hope that I dont have to pay anything0 -
Hi siaupai
Just wondering if you had any success with using a Post Office line?
I called the PO and they confirmed that I could use their lines with Orange broadband. However when I called Orange they said that the line rental had to be paid to BT (although this was a foreign call centre so I don't think he understood what I was asking)0 -
I have a PO line, connected for nothing with 30 day commitment, and I've just had o2 broadband activated on it. No problems.0
