renting and other options

i will need to rent soon, i only want a lttle studio, does anyone know the cheapest option? i have always rented through estate agenst but im starting to wonder abou new options eg private ads on gumtree, monday to friday rooms for the week only, does anyone have any views or experiences?/

    It doesn't matter whether you find the property privately or with an agent. It is not the agent that is receiving the money, it is the landlord. Therefore, neither is cheaper than the other.

    It is best to search both sides of things. Be sure to check out the landlord if you find one via a private ad though.

    Private landlords won't charge you admin fees for processing any rent documents, but may be less flexible when it comes to start dates, etc.

    I would also agree with the last comment about checking out the landlord if arranging it privately, as he/she/they might be more difficult to deal with directly.
