Talking to creditors after DRO
Options
Hi;
I was just wondering if you had to talk to creditor's after taking out a DRO.
When I went bankrupt - I told all my creditor's (and my husband's) when they called that we were bankrupt and they were fine with being referred to my OR.
My parent's however took out a DRO on Wednesday and Abbey are insisting that they will not accept it unless they speak to my father in person, we have referred them to the OR, but they are insistent - Does he have to speak to them, or can we just keep referring them to the OR?
Thank you

No, they don't have to speak to them.
The creditors don't have any choice on whether to accept it either.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I spoke to the Insolvency Service last week regarding this.
Creditors are made aware of a DRO the same day that you know whether it has been accepted or not.
They can (and probably will) continue to hassle for a few weeks.
The advice from the Insolvency Service is........
A)you can either ignore it,
B)write to all creditors yourself stating when you DRO came into force, and your DRO number.
In my case, I am choosing to ignore them, but keeping all documentation, listing all phone calls etc, and if it gets to a point where I feel the creditors are taking the mickey, I will then contact the OR.I used to be Snow White, but I drifted.Mae West
