Compatible Ink Cartridge Not Working

I have an Epson SX205 printer and I bought some compatible cartridges for it. When I load them, I get a pop-up window saying that Epson doesn't recognise the cartridges as Epson brand and will not print with these cartridges installed. Is there any way around this or did I completely waste my money on these?
FWIW, I contacted the tech support at the company that sold me this ink. They told me to unplug the printer for 15 minutes and then install the new cartridges, and also to use a full set of compatibles, which I have done. Neither of these "fixes" work.
Thank you for any help!

Call them back, say you tried the fixes and then if it still can't be sorted reject the goods as faulty and ask for your money back. If you don't get it sorted and they won't play ball on the refund then please name and shame the company concerned so that others can learn from that.

Hi, best bet is to reinstall the Epson cartridges and then replace the compatibles one at a time, switching the printer off and then on after each replacement.-Has worked for me with some compatibles.0

This program may be able to help as it can reset cartridges in the printer (amongst other things, it was useful when my Epson refused to work and demanded it was serviced by Epson!! - ie change the head cleaning pad!!).
It may reset cartridges by rewriting default data. You model is not listed but it supports most Epsons and has 'unspecified' model support. Warning! amateur freeware - not for the faint hearted!
