I want a VERY sturdy crate on wheels for my elderly mother to cart her laundry about in.
Something like this
http://www.lakeland.co.uk/funky-trundle/F/product/2156
But at £15, I wonder can I get better/tougher/sturdier.
In case she leans on it, she may do this without realising, she may not, but just in case

We recently bought a couple of these http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8322405/Trail/searchtext%3ELAUNDRY+BASKET.htm
They don't look sturdy but believe me they are. I am a 'large lady' and have just leant on mine to see if worth recommending to you and there was no give or bending or anything.......if anything leaning on them makes them move away from you as the wheels are very smooth.
HTH:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Thanks but she lives in sheltered accomadation & the laundry room is about 100 foot away, so she needs something she can pull/push down there.0

Mrs. E,
Go for a duel purpose sholley type trolley.
Having worked transporting elderly on shopping trips I would recommend you actually get the "Sholley" brand. It would then have a main use for walking out, as well as laundry.
They are the most expensive but well worth it. All the other brands were rubbish in my opinion, and just fell to bits quickly.
Put Sholley in your search engine. www.sholley .com/0 -

Thanks I googled them.
But this trolly is not to go outside, its for wheeling some laundry about inside. Those are large external ones & my mother is very short (she can't use normal shopping trollys - she can't get the stuff out from the bottom).
It will sit at the bottom of her bed too, so a crate on wheels, but in a quite colour is what I'm really after.0 -

If you look at the pictures of the sholley, the 'bag' is about twice the size of the trundle, AND it has an integral lid, which you'd pay extra for on the trundle, and I don't know about your mum, but there's no way I'd wheel my smalls to the laundry room in an uncovered box! :rotfl::eek:
Plus the sholley has four wheels rather than two, so she will be able to lean on it and still push, it's clearly designed for it.
I don't have either, but I'd go for the sholley, of the two!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Sorry, cross posted, if the trundle is big enough I would definitely get a lid for it or as she pulls it behind her she'll be losing it all ... note it only has two wheels not four, as far as I can see.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Hmmmmm, maybe you are both right?0

What about getting just an ordinary shopping trolley, dual purpose, she could use it for shopping too?
Lakeland, I love the Funky Floral one,,,,

Is there a way of talking to an OT via her accommodation? They may know just the thing for someone who is vertically challenged.Signature removed for peace of mind0

I have, she said the lakeland one was good, she uses it for her stuff.
When I say small, she's not "medically" small, but she does (or did) have a problem with supermarket trolleys.0
