Right i have a student bank account with barclays with a £200 overdraft that is interest free only had it a year this july coming. Now seeing as i have now left college i should change to a normal bank account right? Now being unemployed i am wondering if they will give me an overdraft at all because 1 i am in my overdraft in my student account like nearly all the time and 2 i want a bigger overdraft? But if they say no to an overdraft are they going to demand all the money in my overdraft back??
Thanks for any help

You should be fine, personally i'd just wait until you get a job. TBH, unless having a job is part of the account condisions then it shouldn't matter (i.e. you must pay in £XX amount). Also, Barclays have guaranteed offers - have a look at those and see if you can get a CC or something to see you though..... but you'll be fine as they will use your existing account conduct with them (bahaviour scores)2010 - year of the troll

why? *Some benefits are guaranteed income - more than most people can say right now.
Seriously though, the OP will have no problem, a £200 o/d is peanuts and so long as they used their account fine it won;t matter too much as they will use the behaviour score in the first instance.
Automated decisions are better in this instance - dont speak to a personal banker cos you have to assume it'd gostraight through if your credit is ok?
Employment could be classed as 'domestic enginner' and add the benefits up to get an amount of 'salary'.....
you get the idea
* edit: forgot the word 'some' (thanks opinions4u)2010 - year of the troll

Yes some are guaranteed in that if you are sick (DLA specifically) then yes, they are guaranteed. WTC/FTC/CHb are also guaranteed (for a set peiod of time).
Regards to unemplyment benefit, then yea I agree. But like I said, it's no big deal - loads of unemployed people have bank accounts and overdrafts.
Edit, sorry my post above should have read 'why, some benefits are guaranteed'.... sorry, this explains why you've quoted me2010 - year of the troll

I always use my account well i have never gone over my overdraft limit and only once or twice i havent had enough money in there to go out to pay bills.
My mother has just said why dont i just stay with my student account and ask them for the £1000 overdraft seeing as i may be doing some kind of uni course anyway, would that work?
With barclays they instantly give all students the £200 overdraft but you have to go in and ask to have a bigger overdraft, anyone gone in and asked this?0 -
simple answer to your question, if you are running a good account and have paid in £1500 in to your account in the last 3 months, you'll get your o/d of £1000.0

yeah i get between £400 to £600 in my account every month but obviously it doesnt stay in there, i tend to always be overdrawn but not ever to the limit?0
