    Are you retiling?

If you are just use some cheap rapidset tile adhesive, Anything you buy premixed is generally low quality

I always use bonding plaster, then tile over it directly. (Not advised by Thistle, but I've never had any problems on small holes) Dri coat can be tiled over directly.

TBH, if you are tiling on top, you don't need a good finish as it will be covered anyway. I would just buy the cheapest filler you can. If the holes are really deep, you can pack them with card/newspaper etc to bring the level up and so use less filler and also allow it to dry more quickly. Any small holes or imperfections, don't even bother, as they will be covered over by the tiles anyway.
