Sub 30K debt... Woohoooooo!

I've finally done it, a loan payment went out this morning bringing our debt total to under 30K. I know this is still a massive debt but it has given us a major boost and just goes to show us that we really will be able to pay off this debt. We are still aiming for March 2008 but if this is +/- 3-4 months then that is fine, our next target will be the sub 25K mark, we have had a couple of really good months so it may take us another 4 months ?July to reach that one. Just feeling really positive this morning and wanted to share it. I doubt if I would have reduced it by so much or even had my lightbulb moment without this site you are all a major inspiration, thanks guys. :T  :T  :T  :T  :T  :T  :T  :T  :T  :T  :T

I am SOOOOO proud of you - I know this has been a big milestone for you - WELL DONE!

Very impressed you are managing to clear it so quickly - I am only overpaying by £100+ or so a month, despite my best efforts - you are doing SOOO well! Let us into your secrets!

  • That is amazing. Congratulations. I'll be keeping an eye out for when you get to 25k. £30,000 is a frightful figure but the fact that it might be paid off in 2 years is absolutely wonderful. Great work!

Hi Scottish, well we are trying to throw every spare penny to the debt, like most people here, but in the last couple of months I had a tax rebate (£500), and I have earned an extra £600 doing extra shifts at work and overtime, it all adds up but we are fortunate to be able to pay nearly £1400 off our debts each month before we look at what extra we can pay although around £130 of that figure goes on interest. 4 of our debts (currently) are 0% and the others have low APR's the highest is the Halifax loan at 7% APR.
When I look at what we could be saving all that money for instead of paying off our debt, it makes me very frustrated though!

    well done themaccas,

You're doing a fantastic job and clearly not letting it get you down or beat you.

Just think, when you're finished paying off all that debt, with all the discipline and good habits you're keeping, you'll be in a great financial position.

Well done - looking forward to the 25k mark!
