M42 Speed Cameras

Exactly. The 2 mph tolerance is wrong for a start as by law cameras have to allow for 10% of the speed limit to erradicate errors in speedometers something that is inherrent in all cars. They then tag a 2mph on top of that - therefore if they set the limit at 60mph - then you will get a ticket for 68mph and over.
Car speedos have to over read. I had mine calibrated once when I was on a rolling road. It was something like:
true speed - indicated speed
30 - 33
40 - 44
50 - 55
60 - 66
70 - 77
80 - 88
90 -98
100 - 108
etc
The 10% + 2mph were (are?) the ACPO guidelines but are not law. Any speed above the limit is an offence. A friend of mine received 3 points for doing 75 on an empty dual carriageway at 7am.
When people get all upset about being caught doing 35mph in a 30 limit they forget that their speedo was probably showing 40 at the time.Happy chappy0
