A nice ham, slow roasted? Veggies can be put on when they arrive, or left if they're not hungry. The ham can be carved for salad the next day if not eaten...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200

Quiche, or tart? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Quiche that is good idea that is always fine cold or heated up and the ham perfect also, I googled loads and it says pasta macaroni salads all well and good but the salads go past their best left and cold pasta has never really appealed to me, fine for a picnic but it is going to be dinner....0

I don't think it has to cold food necessarily, just something that you can keep on a very low heat until they turn up, like something in of those slow-cookers, and if it's for this weekend, hot food would be more welcome, I reckon. I'm freezing and thinking about some nice hot soup!0

coronation chicken and cold curried rice, always a fav here
tin of cream of chicken condensed soup
mayonaise
curry paste
apricot jam
cooked chicken
then cook a packet of curry savoury rice and when cool stir a teaspoon of apricot jam through to taste. Can be kept in fridge for a couple of days no probs and can be used for sarnies/baked pots etc!!!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Can't you try to pin them down about whether they will have eaten en route? They are probably wondering what to do for the best, and if you invite them for a meal and they accept then they are bound to try to give you some idea of their arrival time.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

jacket potatoes keep for ages in the oven on a low light, then all you need is a choice of fillings and maybe some salad and chunks of fresh bread.
Also what about preparing some soup in advance, then you can heat up portions in a saucepan as they arriveI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
How about casserole, chilli, spag bol or shepherds pie...
Can cook in advance and heat up if needed or frozen if not:D:beer: Am thinking of a new one:beer:0 -
What about lasagne?
I agree with asking them for an approx idea of what time they will arrive and ask if they would like to eat with you or will have eaten before they arrive. When we go to stay with friends, it is always easier if they make it clear that we are invited for tea rather than us wondering if we should eat on the way.0
