You also need a firewall and a malware program
I use comodo Internet security its free http://www.comodo.com/
Malware use Malwarebytes.org
I also use firefox with the no script addon that stops some web sites running scripts which may contain some nasties its free http://noscript.net/
I also do regularly sweeps and clean cookies/personnel info when I close the browser0 -
Kaspersky is about the best av program you can get at present.
As advised above, use malwarebytes as well.
Yoiu can use the existing Windows firewall.
I don't quite understand your concern-you went to a website, it was infected and your av detected and blocked it-so it's doing it's job exactly as it should. No free lunch, and no free laptop

As savemeoney said. NOSCRIPT will stop anything from being downloaded.
As it was, kaspersky recognised the virus as it was being downloaded. Next time it might not
Id certainly update and run a FULL scan with malwarebytes as a precaution too:idea:0
