Help - Fuzzy text

I'm not very good with IT so please be very basic in your replies.

I have bought a 19" HP monitor and find that the text is not very sharp - distinctly fuzzy. I'm sure there must be a way to make it sharper but I have no idea how to do it.

Can anyone explain what I need to do please?

Sounds like you're not viewing it at its native resolution. It's probably 1440x900 so try that. Or failing that try scrolling through the other available resolutions.

On your desktop right click in a blank area and choose:

Properties > Settings > Screen Resolution

Thanks for your reply but when I find the screen resolution on my desk top it's already set at 1440x900. Any other ideas?

From my original reply: "Or failing that try scrolling through the other available resolutions."

EDIT: Try 1280 x 1024. That seems a fairly common resolution for 19" monitors that use a 5:4 aspect ratio. What model number is it? Can you link to a webpage of it?

See Wikipedia for more information (than anyone needs!) for information about screen resolutions:

  • Could it be something to do with Cleartype?
