Need to repair my internal door locks. Help please

Hi the locks from my 1930's internal doors have stopped working. It's the bit that moves when you turn the door knob. I have taken one lock apart and the spring seems to have broken. I have googled but don't know what to call this thing! It is shaped a bit like a number 2....
Does anyone know where I can get some replacement springs please?
TIA

Hi DeeBee, unfortunatly you wont find any parts available for them you will have to remake the springs yourself. I have referbished many antique locks and its a satisfying challange i applaude you for trying to fix them rather than just chucking them out and replacing with new.
A good cheap source for small amounts of sprung steel is A4 ring binders.0 -
You could also buy a similar lock a salvage yard, ebay etc. Good on you to keep the old stuff going.0

if you have all the bits, its possible to mig weld the bits together again. mig welding only generates a small amount of localised heat, so the temper maybe ok.
try your local garage for help?Get some gorm.0 -
Thanks for your replies. I still haven't decided what to do yet. I need to repair 6 springs altogether and the thought of making my own spring makes me feel anxious. I thought that I could just go into an old fashioned hardware shop and but them over the counter! The metal is very 'tired' so I'm not sure that it would last.
I may try my 'pathetic female act' at the local garage to see where that gets me otherwise I will probably put up with the doors not shutting.
Thanks again

obviously I'm not allowed to tout for buisness on here, so if you want to send me a pic of the locks i can tell you how much it would cost for a referb;)0
