From your DD, it seems as if you are far more generous with your heating than you like to think. That aside, your electricity is very high for someone with gas heating. For our 13-15kwh a day, we have two 'sitting rooms' running most evenings (TV and xbox in one TV and sky in other), washing machine and dishwasher every day, dehumidifier four hours a day in the winter, couple hours tumble drying a week in winter, no cooking/kettle/heating. TV/xbox usually on for a few hours during day - on a weekend or school holiday can be lunchtime 'til early hours. Energy saving bulbs everywhere. Four laptops. One of them and router on all day. Others for a few hours a day. Large fridge and large freezer.

thanks for all advice - sorry when I said it went on at 3 I only meant on cold days not everyday and my thermostat (on the wall) is rarely above 17 degrees apart from the very coldest days. I like to think we're good at turning off appliances/lights when not in use but actually our neighbour does refer to our house as 'the lighthouse'.

It sounds to me as thou you've far more heat on than is necessary at this time of year. Try turning it down a couple of marks, I bet you barely notice the difference. If your neighbour/s are calling your house the lighthouse I reck you should take note, for your sake and the plant's!

Ive not had the central heating on for weeks. If Im still cold with a jumper on, then I'll stick it on for an hour. This winter I kept our summer quilt downstairs for the mrs, she's a bit soft. Once the kids were asleep, heating off, quilt out. I cut my winter quarter gas usage by 28%. Im not saying it was easy, as it wasn't.
