Train from Gatwick Airport using FGW £5 off offer

Rather than get someone to collect us from the aiport, I fancy taking the train and using the £5 off offer. I have registered on the First Great Western website and have a PIN number for this offer.

I have started to try to buy the tickets, but have some questions. I note that when I buy the tickets on the website, I have to nominate a specific train to travel on, even if I buy an "anytime" ticket.

1. I note that the offer only runs until 30th June. I get back early July. As the web site allows me to buy a ticket for this date, then am I correct in assuming that the expiry date is for when to *buy* the tickets by, not *when* to use them by,

2. What happens if my plane is late and I miss the train, and have to get one an hour later? Even though it is an "anytime" ticket, is my ticket invalid?

Anytime tickets will be valid at any time during that day and do not restrict you to a certain train. The deadline for booking using the code is 30th June but you can buy for any train after that.

Ticket will be OK for July and also on an anytime ticket you don't have use the nominated trains.
