Hi, I think I need a new battery for my car. But I have disconnected it and find the car takes 0.7 Amps all the time. Is this normal, alarm etc?

If the battery is disconnected, there could be no current drawn from it by any of the car's circuits."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

0.7A seems a bit high to me. That would flatten the average battery in 2 to 3 days. Check for boot light etc. How quickly is the battery running flat ?0

methodically go through the fusebox.
remove each fuse in turn.
measure the current flowing across the fuse terminals in the fusebox.
that way you should isolate the culprit circuit.
bodged aftermarket alarms are the usual suspects.
maplins or maybe RS sell specialist automotive test probes..
the probes are shaped just right to slot into the fuse holder.0 -
Thanks all of you. I disconnected the battery to put the meter in line. I thought 0.7 was high, will now remove fuses in turn as suggested. The alarm was supplied as original equipment.0
