EasyJet refunds

Hi,
I'm hoping to cancel an EasyJet booking as I can no longer travel and can't get anyone to travel in my place. I've contacted customer services but was wondering what sort of experiences others had had regarding cancellations/refunds with EasyJet?
They don't seem particularly keen to give refunds!
Cheers,
Ian.

I booked with easyjet last year and wanted to cancel flights. I phoned within the 24 hour period where cancellations were allowed but the admin fee of #20 per person per flight didnt make it worth my while cancelling as it was such a cheap flight to start with. I also book lots of flights for work colleagues due to ease of them flying from local airport to europe.
This is on their website:
easyJet is a non-refund airline save as provided in our "Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage" and in the Carrier's Regulations.
easyJet regrets that it is unable to offer refunds in the event of passengers being unable to fly owing to any change in personal circumstances, including but not limited to medical grounds, with the exception of the application of the 24 hour cancellation policy.
All claims will be assessed entirely at the discretion of easyJet. This credit will be to the value of the original fare paid less an administration fee per passenger per sector and can be used against any future flights on easyJet within the following six month period.
Could you go online and change your dates of travel? There shouldnt be a charge for this, only a fee to pay if flight prices have gone up but easyjet advise all fees before you confirm the changes. You just put your booking reference on the website and you can do flight and name changes from there.. If you change the passenger name you have to pay a fee of about #15 per person per flight and difference in fare if it has gone up.
I find easyjet a pain re refunds although you are supposed to be able to at least claim the tax back when you cancel a flight. Could you claim on your travel insurance??
Let us know how you get on.

If push come to shove you could always E-Bay your flights as name changes are allowed costing £15 per name0

Cheers,
eBay is my plan B! I'm not holding out much hope for a positive response from easyJet.
I think you're right re taxes - i'll definately take that up with them.

Most airlines make sure their admin fee is higher than the taxes, meaning you'd actually have to pay them to claim. If the flights were cheap, chalk it up as loss and move on - it happens all the time and is one of the reasons tickets are so cheap in the first place.0

£15 PLUS the difference in the price of the ticket when you bought it and the date you ask for the name change.
So if the ticket cost you £10 and it would now cost £50, they will charge you £55 to change the name.
