next step, so worried, halifax claim

Hi

I am trying to claim my charges back from halifax under the hardship ruling

I have £1200 charges to claim and over £1300 in debts for rent and utilities.

I originally sent my first letter at the begining of may, only to be told they wouldnt pay anything until after the final court ruling, but send me an expendure form to fill in which i did and included all my debts, also as expected the form showed i have a over £100 shortfall in my monthly income compared to outgoing.

I had a reply today basically in a nutshell telling me the same that my complaint would remain on hold until after the final ruling, but they will arrange for someone from their money manaqement team to contact us, which is fine i dont mind any help, but if i d nt make a huge payment of my rent arrears by mid July my landlady will not renew our contract so i will be homeless along with my disabled husband, my teenage son and all my dogs which are our lifes.

Is there anymore i can do, or have i reached the end of this road.

This is going to sound very odd but are you sure that you have calculated every single charge since July 2001?
Are you claiming all benefits that you are entitled to?
Can you get help with rent for example, Local Housing Allowance?
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

Yes i have, and im sure we get all we are intitled too, we get most of our rent paid, but it goes straight into our bank and most tiomes there are charges to come out so my landlady was not getting full rent.
Do i have any more options with halifax?

Open a new account, a basic one, somewhere diffferent, use it solely for having your housing allowance/benefit paid in and paid out of. Keep it away from the clutches of the bank.

Personally I would ditch the bank whilst your sole income is benefits, leave the overdraft if you have one, pay it off at £1 month, Utilities - you can go to prepayment and pay cash as and when and they can take the debt out at £1 a week or whatever.

Get back in control yourself rather than letting the bank control things with their charges.

Now how much are your rent arrears, and have you spoken to your council about the situation ? Is it ONLY charges being taken from the rent money, or is it being used in other arrears too ? They CAN pay direct to the landlady (tho they dont like doing it) and showing them you are having trouble managing the money in and out of the account and have built up arrears would be a good indication they need to pay direct. Have a chat with them.

Halifax are right they dont have to repay anything - YET.
