Tesco double the difference

Hi, i went shopping today and asked if the lager was on offer.."yes" was the reply "3for £20 until the 9th of June". I was charged full amount £36:eek: :eek: :eek: at the till.I never realised it until i got home.So i rang their 0845 number on till receipt and got through to customer sevices who told me that i could get double the difference, is this true?

I think they used to refund you the full amount and let you keep the product as well but maybe they stopped this.

Yes, it's now double the difference. So you're quids in!

That's assuming that the SEL said 3 for £20?

If what you were charged for the items was higher than what was stated on the shelf edge, then they will refund you double the difference. (It's usually on a board behind customer services).

The annoying catch ... is that this is as long as it's not due to a scanning error, such as the operator miscounting multiple quantities etc. Not that they actually tell you that part mind :huh:. Last time I had a 'scanning error' I pointed out that the policy behind them did not state "double the difference ... except when blah blah blah", and got the full amount 'just this time'.

Thanks for the replies.The items were scanned through individually and there was a sel saying "3 for £20". So it looks like i'll be quids in, :beer::j:T:j

Get back in there quick for your refund - they will quite possibly remove the SEL if they get the chance! I've known staff to palm incorrect SELs and say there was no such sign when I've been standing right behind them ! (They did have the grace to go bright red when I pointed out exactly where the SEL had gone!)

Xbox's were £329.97, but a guy was charged £329.99. He bought LOADS and then got them all for free.

They weren't happy and pulled the policy...

nope not double the difference any more, just the difference between the correct price and the price you were actually charged.

Since when? I was given double the difference less than 2 months ago...

:huh:I got my 'double the difference' refund only about 10 days ago. The policy behind the CS desk certainly still stated double the difference at the time.
