  • Hello all and a good weekend to you,

Completely Confused, I don't have anything helpful to suggest, but I'm sorry it's so frustrating for you at the moment! Hopefully someone will be along soon who can advise better than I can.

Cabot Financial, who took over my Egg account along with quite a few other people's by the sounds of it, have accepted so that's another one down :) Just two to go.

Anyway, the next development is I have a lump sum coming to me in the near future and wonder what's best to do. It's not enough to pay the whole debt off but could clear a couple of the smaller ones. I'm with Payplan and I'm sure when I first spoke to them the lady mentioned the possibility of Full and Finals with a lump sum but I've read opposing advice here and there about it. Can I do F & F's on a couple of the smaller debts while I'm on the DMP, isn't that favouring certain creditors? I'm only a few months in. Also, how do I pay a one off lump sum to Payplan if I decided to go down that road, is it just through the facility on the Justabank website? I know I could ask PP all this but my brain is frying and could just do with a sounding board first!

If this creditor decided to take you to court you would have to produce all this stuff to the judge for him/her to make a decision on your circumstances.

So just a question. If DH gets called into court regarding one of these bills, does he have to produce a bank statement? He doesn't have one, except for our joint one, which is almost to the limit in overdraft and I am slowly paying off separately. He has his paycheque sent to my account and I send all the money out for him by standing order. He didn't want to deal with opening up a new account with all this going on. If he ends up being taken to court (as the bills are in HIS name only), I don't want MY bank account brought into court. I don't want my info to be involved.

Does that just mean he would need to show copy of paycheque and just proof of bills and/or bills paid (such as utility, rent, etc etc)? If it's an absolute, I'll have him open his own basic account and pay the bills from that if need be. Would it just be one month's bank statement or more than that?

  • I have my 6 month review tomorrow, things are going fairly smoothly, all but one account has stopped or reduced interest, no nasty letters, phonecalls (after I removed my phone number from the egg account!) or calls to the house.

Good luck to everyone starting out. All I can say is that I wish I'd done this years ago. Had a birthday earlier this month, and for the first time I can say another year older and NOT deeper in debt!!

  • Can anyone tell me if you have to send your payslips to CCCS again when you have your 6 month review, I have been on DMP for 8 months and havent heard anything about my review yet, do I have to contact them or will they write to me or ring me up?

So feeling for you! Can only say what I have before- your health and family is the most important thing. Focus on those. It's tough to repay the money but how much tougher if your family should fall apart and your well-being should suffer?
My DMP is likely to be about 18/19 years and I am MUCH older than you. Just got to keep plugging on.
It sounds as thought your situation could improve in a few years.Wait and see what the CCCS say on Monday and try not to fret too much over the unknown, difficult thought that is.
Remember you are Mrs Optmist-keep the faith! ;)

Thanks for this, you are right, I need to focus on health and family, the rest will get sorted eventually!

I keep telling myself that we are still young and have opportunities in the future to reduce the amount of time it will take to pay this all back, and we WILL pay it back! lol

I am usually a very optimistic person (hence the user name) but sometimes I still suffer the aftershocks of PND that I had after my daughter was born...however it doesn't last for long, I am usually able to see the bright side at the end of the day :)

No you don't need to send them anything for a review, just tell them all the figures again. With me, they wrote to me saying you are due to do a review, please ring to book it in.

But, if you're struggling or circumstances have changed, then you can ring them at any point to ask for a review, then and there on the phone.

Well my dmp payment has just gone from £550 down to just over £100 a month due to OH having very little work.

Just had first creditor letter this morning - Metropolitan say that's fine  Not what I expected, but that's one down, three to go ;)

What they don't know yet is that I'm likely to be made redundant soon, in which case who knows what money they will get :o

In the meantime, until OH finds more work (self employed) - my debt free date has gone from 3.5 years to 13 years :( but we need to pay the rent etc so nothing we can do really.

Have given him the sellotape to play with now
