Sorry to be a nuisance
I have to send off my first postal orders soon. The first ones go to Halifax and Bank of Scotland for standard unsecured loans. Do I just send them to my local branch or should I send them somewhere else? I cannot find an obvious address on their site.
Thanks in advance0 -

I was in the same boat, my DH works weekends sometimes as a chef and the extra money I was going to pay off our debts but don't think it will work out in our favour really!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a fair point, as the way PP work payments out is to dole out equally to each creditor, though the minimum to each is £1, so if the debt is small there is a possibility that'll get paid off quicker.
It shouldn't make a difference paying off one debt before the other, other than to make things tidier. The risk there is that you may make the other creditors a bit narked off if they find out. So PP's method of distributing extra cash (make sure they know it's a one-off payment) to creditors does make sense, and it'll also shorten your DFD...DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Hi all, Just about to start DMP with CCCS (filled out online forms - waiting for stuff in post), I get paid commission at work and this can vary drastically from a few hundered pounds a month to over £1500. In this scenario (DMP) and some commission coming in - I take it I would pay whatever I could (over and above the initially agreed sum) to CCCS and they would dole it out to creditors?
Also - whilst in this period (waiting for the stuff in the post)- should I tell creditors that I'm having difficulty and will be starting a DMP very soon and pay them a token gesture amount???
Any help appreciated folks!!
Also - i f I do contact them to say I am starting a dmp - should I give them the reference no? As i noticed on the website it said not to give your number out to any creditors??0 -
Welcome aboard the good ship DMP Carlstewart.
Not sure about the commission side of it, I'm sure someone will be along soon to answer that one.
Write to your creditors espically if your due to make a payment to them soon and explain that your in touch with the CCCS and enclose a token payment between £1 & £5 no more. I gave them my CCCS ref no. and nothing happened not sure why CCCS say not to hand it out.

Dear Sir/Madam
Re:- Account/Reference Number XXXX
I’m are writing to inform you that I’m seeking advice and assistance from the Consumer Credit Counselling Service regarding my current financial difficulties.
I’m finding it increasingly difficult to meet your monthly payment request so please accept the enclosed cheque for £1 as a token gesture of goodwill.
I would appreciate if you could hold any action on the above account for a period of at least 28 days.
Also, during this period, could you please freeze interest and/or any other charges accruing on the above account.
I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

Carlstewart, personally if it were me I would save the commission in a separate account and then use it to offer full and final settlements to the smaller creditors and try to get rid of them first.
Yes send the standard letter with £1 postal orders at this stage.0 -
Hi everyone.
Well I just made my first payments to all my creditors after taking the over the DMP myself last month.
Luckily I got paid early due to Christmas and so everyone will get there payment in plenty of time. That won't happen next month as I don't get paid till the 28th and cccs used to distribute payments around the 25th so I'll have to see how that goes down with everyone. Not great I'm guessing:rolleyes:
Now it's a case of waiting and seeing whether this rocks the boat with anyone.
It feels good to be a bit more in control of my finances again though, don't get me wrong CCCS were great when I needed them and this site has helped me so much with the legalities of stuff, and realising that all the scary letters and phone calls are all usually just so much hot air.;)
LittleMiss, when RBS took me to court earlier in the year they were also refusing the amount I was paying, but CCCS said to just make exactly the same offer on the court papers, and in the end the judgement was made for that amount. Nothing worse happened. I think the court can see the situation you are in and knows realistically you are paying what you can.
Sometimes I think creditors cut off their nose to spite there face by doing that.

Ideally you want a basic account not linked to any of your creditors. You will not be able to have an overdraft.
A lot of people on here tend to go with the Co-Operative Bank, but there are issues with limited branches. However, you are able to deposit money I believe in Post Office branches.
Failing that, Natwest and HSBC seem popular too.
With regards not giving your number out to Creditors, I think CCCS mean your phone number...DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Hi everyone - I have also had to take out a DMP with CCCS after being made redundant twice this year
can anyone tell me how long it takes to receive the information and then when the first payment is likely to be due?

Hi everyone, just thought I would let you know that I spoke to Mercers today and they were really nice!! I spoke to a lady called Angela and she looked at both my Barclaycard accounts and said she didn't know why Barclaycard had passed them over as she could see that I have been making regular payments which Barclaycard have been accepting and she could also see that I spoke to someone about both of these accounts on the 6th November and that they added my payplan details so she said she would write some notes on each of the account s and pass them back to Barclaycard , she also apologised for the phone calls to me and said that she would put a note on to make sure I didn't get a call from a door step collector!! I was amazed!!!!!! Was gunning for a showdown lol!
Also wrote yet another letter to Barclays bank to request they take off my overdraft protection as they are still charging me for this, I also signed the letter as this is why they sent it back last time and I can't be bothered to play their little games! I just want it removed!!
We had exactly the same issue with BarclayCard & Mercers. again, we had a letter and a call from Mercers so, looking for a confrontation spoke to them and they said exactly the same. After 4 months, Barclaycard just went quiet. They still charge us £7 a month (on a £34 DMP Payment) but they have accepted and as soon as our situation improoves, We will be increasing our minimum paymentsLBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09
