    Hi LMS

Sorry to read about NR giving you a writ, nothing to suggest, just wanted to send you hugs:grouphug:.

I have a loan with NR and been on DMP for 2 years now and they have accepted it. Don't truly understand why their accept some and go for court with others, owning about the same as you but paying over £100 a month. I've also gone for reclaiming of PPI which should return about £12K, so in effect if all goes well will wipe this debt out....God willing. Have you not got PPI on the loan? if so, nothing to lose, go in with a mis-selling claim if you can.

    Take care,
    MM2

Hello everyone, this is mwithy first post but no doubt not my last. I have had the phone call with cccs on thursday and I am cancelling the dd's to my creditors from Dec 28 and will be sending minimum payments of £5.00 for Jan and Feb. CCCS state the DMP will be ready for March and I will be paying them by DD from then. I feel nervous but also positive. I really want this debt monkey off my back. My OH is really nervous too. But I keep telling her we really have no choice. We have no where else to go. But this really is not a bad thing anyway. We will be able to pay off these debts it will just take a few (!) years.

One thing that bothers me is this. I have been and opened a new escape account with Barclays. But I opened a normal current account but with no overdraft and no intention of getting one. I only did this because of the cheque book. I no this will seem daft but not having a cheque book for dinner money, etc will be a real pain when dealing with schools etc. This problem must be being dealt with be lots of you nice people. CCCS said I must change the Barclays account to a basic. If I have to I will do it happily. The question is do I really have to if I have no overdraft facility. Would anyone find out?

    Look forward to your advice
  • Hi Nolnoc and all fellow DMP'ers

When we started on our dmp journey we went to the Abbey and asked for a basic bank account. I assume that because as our cr rating was still good at the time, (shot to bits now!!) we were offered a 'normal' ac with debit card, chq book and o/d. Told them I didn't want the o/d and just kept the account with the dr card. I've not had any probs with the account, and I always run in credit...............not sure why cccs telling you that you need to change it. So long as the account dosen't give you access to anymore credit - which it won't without an agreed o/d, can't see it being a prob!
Have a good one and a merry xmas!

I agree, shouldn't be an issue, as long as you stipulate no o/d.

  • Welcome Nolnoc,

I have a normal current acc. but have had the OD facility removed, but we have a Visa debit and cheque book (as per your dilemma still need a CB for school lunches etc.). Been with CCCS for 11 months and have had no problems with them or creditors regarding the account.

The only thing I can think of as a reason why they advised you to change to a basic account is if you have a creditor connected with the Barclays group, if you do they may help themselves to any money in the current account to pay a debt but I don't think they touch a basic account.

I have a A&L premier cheque account - with no overdraft. Have had it since I've been on the DMP with CCCS - two and a half years - and no problems.

The main issue would be if you owe any other money to Barclays - if so, they could take money from your cheque account (without even notifying you) to "offset" any other debt you have with them.

As long as you don't have any other debts with them it should be fine.

  • Hi there, I'm on a DMP with Payplan and my smallest debtor is my Natwest Credit Card at about £500.

I'd like to get this paid off when I've saved up to do so - can I do that or will I get told off?

    Thanks, CC xx

Hiya, I asked this the other week to Payplan and they told me that if I had any extra cash I had to forward it to them for them to send on, because when they do all the working outs you should really have anything left to play around with and save!!!!!!!

I was in the same boat, my DH works weekends sometimes as a chef and the extra money I was going to pay off our debts but don't think it will work out in our favour really!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you everyone. I feel much happier now. I will keep the Barclays account with no OD so i can keep a cheque book for school dinners etc.

would just like to check that none of these creditors are actually part of Barclays. They are:
Vigin cc - MBNA (i think?) or is it santander?
    Cahoot - Abbey
    M&S - HSBC
  • Just an update before the crimbo period.

I've had calls from 3 of my creditors now (Barclaycard, Lloyds TSB and CitiCard) and my wife has had a call for her from Barclaycard.

Explained to each of them that had contacted the CCCS and gave them the reference number. They said they would stop any further calls for 30 days but I don't think they're stopping any charges or interest :(

We finally got proof of earnings for my wife so have now sent everything off to the CCCS - I shall call them in a couple of days to see if it's been received.

Anyways, hope you all have a greate christmas and that 2010 is a better year than 2009!

    Cheers,

    Wayne
