    Afternoon all,

Hope everyone had an okay weekend. I noticed that some people, me included, have had quite a stressful one. So I hope that everyone has managed to have a break from dd's, bank accounts, DMP's etc for a few minutes at least to re-charge those batteries.

I managed to finally sort my bank account out and I have now opened a brand new shiny one thats not showing in the red. So now I can let everyone know where they can start getting their money from.

I am having a major stress over my DMP so if someone can have a look at this please and let me know cos my head is in such a spin over this.
    These figures are made up:
OH earns £200 per week = £800 per month
    I earn £1000 per month
so forever now I have worked out that we have a joint monthly income of £1800
CCCS have now said OH earns £866.66 per month as they have x his wage by 52 then divided by 12. Fair enough I get that.
Now what I dont get is that the monthly dd's and the monthly amount for food etc that the CCCS have allowed me just doesnt add up. When there is a 4 week month I cant afford my dd's that month plus all the other sundries that I have accounted for. Its fine when its a 5 week month there is enough after but by doing an average monthly wage spread over the year I amn struggling to sort out my finances.

Am I missing something here? I keep doing the sums but unless I put extra money in my account to cover the missing weeks before the DMP starts I cant see how I am going to be able to do it. Please can someone explain to me in simple terms what I need to do. I hope this makes sense to someone. Cheers

  • Use this link to direct you to Martin's guide on how to reclaim credit card charges....

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/credit-card-charges

It includes the template letters you can adjust to suit your own circumstances. Most of the creditors will tell you to bog off at first but keep at them, your persistance can pay off.

I managed to claim back £48 from Littlewoods, £168 from Halifax credit card and £90 from Monument credit card from using the template letter from Martin. I didn't even know I could claim back these blasted double £12 charges but it was only from messing around on this site that I found the link at the top and tried it. Both Monument and Halifax turned me down at first so I sent them a second letter and they agreed to pay out :D

    Hi all,

I hardly slept last night knowing that my Natwest loan wouldn't be paid today :(

My first payment goes to Payplan on 25th Nov and they have contacted all my creditors who have confirmed correct balances so I'm just waiting...waiting...waiting.

I've never not paid anything, it was just becoming too much to afford it all, so I'm cr*apping myself this morning - it's a really weird feeling.

Can someone tell me what's the worst that could happen?

Thank you - I want my Mum :(

    CC xx

    Hello and welcome CC ;)

The 'worst' that can happen is you will get alot of letters from creditors asking you to contact them immediately because you have gone from paying every month on time to not paying at all. They want to know what is up and why you are not paying the normal amount.

It is entirely up to you whether or not you choose to speak the creditors, OH spoke to MBNA once as we were worried at the start to let them know he couldn't pay and they weren't even bothered!, they couldn't do anything for him until his account was in arrears! So personally we never bothered speaking to any other creditor and managed to change our phone number before the DMP was set up so they couldn't call us. We have always dealt with everything in writing, plus this way you have proof that you have communicated with the creditors and have not 'ignored' the debt which is what some creditors imply in their letters when you have done on a DMP.

Please don't worry, Payplan will pass all your information to your creditors so they will know your situation and that horrible gut feeling in your stomach will pass in time.

    take care ;)

  • Hi Everyone. I have been reading your posts on this thread for many months and have now been brave enough to post on here myself. I need some advice please. We have just started a DMP with CCCS after doing their debt remedy on line. I have sent all of the DMP letters and a £2 token payment to our 12 creditors and am now waiting for the onslaught of telephone calls, letters etc. Our DMP won't be starting until Jan 10 as am waiting to get all of the paperwork together to send to CCCS and not sure how long it will take to get there cos of the postal strikes. We have changed our telephone number at the weekend as Egg called 6 times on Fri and Sat up until 8.30 at night probably because I cancelled the DD and the kids were wondering why I didnt answer the phone. Now everytime my mobile rings and my phone at working rings I feel sick and want to hide underneath my desk. Can anyone tell me if it is best to speak to the Creditors and tell them that we are starting a DMP or is it best to ignore them. All I seem to be thinking about at the moment is being in debt and when I do manage to sleep thats all I dream about as well. Please help!

    Hello and welcome Totally ;)

It is entirely up to you whether or not you choose to speak the creditors, personally we never bothered speaking to any other creditor and managed to change our phone number before the DMP was set up too so they couldn't call us. We have always dealt with everything in writing as we couldn't face the hassle some complain about.

I am with CCCS and once they receive your starter pack with all your creditor information, they take over and deal with the creditors so you don't have to. If creditors do start to call or text your mobile personally I would try to change the sim, they can be bought quite cheaply or if you can't do that then there is a letter you can send to them to stop telephone calls and deal with everything in writing only.

I am not sure about calling you at work, this would be a breach of data protection if they tell others who they are and why they want to speak to you plus it could be classed as harrassment if they continue to call and it causes you problems in your job eg you work in an office and need the phones etc

  • Hi Everyone,

Ditto from me too......in the early days of £1 token payments I was picking up the phone and getting upset etc but now we avoid wherever possible. Luckily we have got an internet hub phone thing now so the old line is on silent and we have only given out the new number to those family and friends who we would want to talk to! :)
Still got a prob with the mobile but any dodgy 0800 or 0808 etc number that rings I ignore.

How's everyone's Monday gone? First day back at work after my week off :(
but managed to sort the moving of my wages into my new joint account, move hubby's stuff over too, cancelled all direct debits now, and am in the process of letting everyone know the new details. Some let you by phone, some online and some in the post(!) so that will take a bit of time to sort. We got our new cash cards today so all ok with our new accounts,
    phew.....each baby step eh.....

only thing was that I was hoping my OH would have used his initiative and cooked dinner today seeing as I had a long 10 hours at work.......and he was off with no work......but nooooooooooooooooooooooo

his first words when I walked in the door were 'I havent cooked the dinner'
To which I replied, 'why not?'

Then he said, 'Well I had the kids to look after (both at school, one in nursery for the morning, the other all day!!!!!!)
    !!!!
To which I replied 'so how did I do it when I was off plus the cleaning/shopping/washing...etc etc
    What a cop out!

Hey ho!! Sorry for the moan, I should post stuff like this over on the relationship boards methinks! :rotfl:

Thank you so much to all posters
  • Me again,
Just checked with Royal Mail online tracking....so far, 4 out of 13 creditors have received the notification of DMP letters........
    ooooooohhhhh it's started!!!

P.S. For the record, even though I had accepted the situation, I still felt sick when we started paying token payments and not the full amount for loans and credit cards.
I still feel sick now! So all the feelings everyone is talking about are normal....they just arent nice :(
We will get though it together, hang in there everyone!

  • Thank you Everyone for all your advice and kindness:o. Until I found this site I thought we were the only ones in trouble but it does make you feel better knowing you aren't. Does anyone know if there is a cut off date when the CCCS DMP Agreement has to be sent back by for the DMP to start on 1 December.

    evening all!

haven't posted for ages but wanted to say ''hello'' - esp to all the new dmper's. thought i would share my dmp experiance with anyone new to this .......

we are month 5 into our dmp & what a rollercoaster so far this has been.

Non stop calls for the first month or so - tried my best to speak to all our creditors (8 in total) but after the 5/6th call from the same company about the same thing i started to ignore calls & wait for the letters / default notices.

& they soon arrived!!! never have i had soooo much post. felt very popular!!!!:rotfl:

BUT it soon died down - now just have Lloyds (8k cc) completely doing my head in - threatening solicitors - called them up & its thier own ''in house' ones - wanting an extra £1.87 (yep £1.87) to accept my dmp payment otherwise it goes to a DCA! how ludicrous is that!!!!

anyway spoke with CCS they said it would make no diiference on a debt that large - they would end up sending it to a DCA after a year anyway - which in the long run will be better for us. ( i think - daren't think about charging orders etc....)

so i think what i'm trying to say is - stick with your DMP - it is the best thing me & hubby did - we robbed peter to pay paul - paid min payments on cc's / took cash out on cc's & that was just to survive until next pay day.

Now we have no o/d - haven't been o/d in 5 months!!!! & actually paying for things with our hard earned cash is frankly the LBM we both needed.

& as for c/cards - well could go into why we racked up £35k on cards but its a bit of ''woe'' story & hasn't changed anything so won't go there!!!

actually looking fwd to xmas this year as have SAVED for it - as opposed to putting it onto the cards & spending january looking for a consoldation loan. Utter madness.

to all my fellow DMP's - thank you - you have all been a godsend in my time of need & i think there may be a few more ahead!!
