  • Sorry guys, I am still chuckling at that one....

"over and out, goodbye lousy, lousy creditors..."

Still chuckling. I think I enjoyed that more than seeing the £0 balances.

Haha still going. Cor I could dine on that one for years to come.

I am belly laughing now. Please someone stop me ...lol

Laugh on m'dear!!! I find it highly amusing that only yesterday a well known high street bank had a quarenteed credit card for me, and another company sent me a book of cheques to spend. So kind of them-shall I tell them I havn't got two brass halfpennies to rub together? :rotfl:
I too have brought a child up without much visible means of support. Has come through Uni with a brilliant degree-you can't buy pride for any amount of money :)

    Hi CASR25,

I've read your posts with interest, and honestly I could have been reading my life story. I thought about all the options that have gone through your mind i.e secured loans etc and I'm so glad I have gone down the DMP route.

    Becks

The single biggest regret of my financial life is taking a secured loan from First Plus followed by contacting CCCS less than a year later. I so wish we had gone to CCCS first.

I'm feeling worried and low about my DMP, which I was so optimistic about originally. The problem is I had to go and buy school shoes and some uniform for my two boys, grand total around £125!

This has left the budget extremely tight this month. My DMP with CCCS is due to start any day and I am waiting for the paperwork to make my first payment. I'm panicking now that there won't be enough left in the bank to cover the everyday bills that are due to go out.

Speaking of banks, I changed mine in line with the advice on here, tried to open a step account but the manager opened a gold plus account despite me telling him what I wanted and why (fees are £12 a month on this account, and £1.62 for the zero overdraft!), then I discovered this bloomin bank is owned by one of my creditors! I should have just gone with the Barclays account that I wanted I think!

Now I have to ring Natwest and get them to downgrade my account, and then wait another week or so for a new card. I feel quite sick knowing I will be unable to access my money again, as I have just been through this opening the account in the first place. Maybe I would be better off opening the Barclays basic account after all, except it means I will have to change all my DDs again, and tell all income sources it has changed again! I don't yet know if my employer has changed my bank details since they haven't yet acknowledged the letter I sent them and I feel like it's all falling apart before it's even got off the ground!

Sorry all, just needed to get all that off my chest. It feels like you try to help yourself and then some !!!!!! comes along and knocks you back down again :(

    Hello,

If you think that you wont have enough money to cover your priority bills, you will need to call the CCCS as soon as possible and see if they can put back the start date by a month for you.

I think you're right about changing the account. Does anyone know if Barclays is anything to do with Santander or Bank of Scotland? What I'll do is get it open, wait for the card to arrive and then transfer everything over when I know I'll have access to it. I'll tell Natwest I'm closing my account in protest at the mis-selling of accounts

Yes, it was the shoes that made up the bulk of the money spent on uniform. I save all my older ones uniform (if it's in a fit state) so that the younger one can have it when he gets to the next school. They have a large age gap and I had already got rid of the primary uniform before I had my youngest. He was a little unexpected :o

Thank you for your kind words. It really helps having a place to come where people understand :)

Not sure about RBS/Barclays. I don't think they are linked and am trying to find out but justabank is on go slow for me. OK, I'm in and i'm pretty sure you're ok with Barclays. Just a thought it may be worth opening 2 accounts and getting your bills dd's to come out of one and paying your wages into the other one, and make a set payment from the wages one to the bills account each month. that way what's left is spending money etc. that's what i do (not set up for the DMP funnily enough, was set up when i was living in the house but name wasn't on things but it works well now too).

Also have you thought of joining freecycle if there is one in your area. the one in my area is always advertising or asking for school uniforms etc and could help next time.

For this time tho if i was you i think i'd consinder maybe postponing your DMP start date for a month if you think it's going to leave you short this month, and this month just pay a token amount again! Again just a thought!

  • Hi Everyone

Hope that everyone is well. I have only posted a few times but I am on every night looking at the posts - it makes you feel good to know that you are not on your own as I have spent so long feeling that way.

I have just started my DMP with CCCS with a date of 1st October and my DFD is quite a way away - I feel I may be a regular visitor. May have a special number?

    Thank you!

  • I sent a letter to Metropolitan Collection Services last week after receiving phone calls at all times of the day and night asking them to only communicate in writing - received a letter today saying my phone number has been removed from my records :j:j:j

I also sent the same letter to their solicitors as they have passed it on to them.

  • My DMP with CCCS started this month. So far I have received the following from creditors - have a few queries please:

MBNA - letter saying on severe hardship programme. Will freeze interest and charges
Capital 1 - reduced payment plan set up & default notice enclosed - from what I can gather, this is fairly standard procedure with them.
Halifax - letter received asking for an up to date financial statement from a 3rd party debt counselling service (such as CCCS). This is where I'm a bit confused - I'm not sure why they're asking for something I assume they have or what I need to do?

    Thanks

  • Hi

Some creditors like to play "silly !!!!!!s" I to have had requests for financial statements even though I know they have already had one from CCCS, some creditors will deny ever receiving any communication from CCCS or yourself, CCCS will tell you to do nothing as the creditor has everything that they require already, sometimes they will resend the information, but there is no harm in printing your budget directly from the CCCS website and sending it directly to your creditor via recorded delivery, then they can never say that they haven't received it.

Well the only people to ring today have been Egg. Told them OH will not take phone calls under doctor's orders due to stress, that he has written to them with payplan dmp info, and to put everything in writing from now on instead of phoning. She said she would put it all on the system, whatever that means.

Told barclaycard and mbna the same spiel yesterday and they haven't rung back yet so fingers crossed.
