Can I demand a refund on my pram

I have had a pram for nearly a year, however have only been using it for 5 months.
In this time I have had to have 2 replacement pieces of material due to seams splitting and now the front wheel has broken.
The pram cost me £400 and I do not think that the quality is satisfactory for the price paid and so would like a refund. The online store I bought it from is reputable one however they do not give refunds only relacement parts or repair.
Can I demand a refund using consumer law? or do I have to put up with this pushchair breaking every 6 weeks?
BTW - although reviews of this pushchair are excellent when you google my specific issues there are lots of other people in the same boat so I would not want a replacement.
Thanks for your help!!

Hi
Very generally speaking, the longer you have an item the less likely it is that you can ask for a refund.
Have a look at this link for further information http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_world/consumer_affairs/buying_goods_your_rights.htm
How did you pay? If it was by credit card you could make a claim against your credit card company as they have equal liability if its faulty (Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act)The Cabbage
Its Advice - Take it or Leave it:D0 -
Previous poster has given some v. good advice.
Legally, you are entitled to a full repair, possibly a replacement or you may wish to push for a (partial) refund through the retailer (your contract is with them).
Some retailers are pretty good and will go above and beyond their statutory requirements, e.g. we had good experiences with Mothercare who loaned us a pushchair while ours went off for repair, and then they gave us a better deal on a replacement one when it was deemed beyond economic repair.
I'd try the retailer first to see what they propose, then there is no harm in speaking to the manufacturer and explaining the raft of faults - they may offer you a full replacement.
Its frustrating I appreciate, but I don't think the SOGA really helps out in the situation where numerous faults crop up and need repairing. It would be up to you make a case that it wasn't fit for purpose or of merchantable quality.0 -
Thank you. I am expecting a phone call from the retailer today and will push for a refund and see how far I get. On a previous phone call regarding the material they did admit that they had had this happen a lot so they are aware of quality issues.
It is so difficult when it is a pram as I need to use it every day, it is also a double pram so cannot borrow one from anyone whilst ours is being fixed.0
