To be honest if you were intending to purchase a vehicle it is simply a case of contacting Dealdrivers and they would ask the VW dealership to contact you and answer your questions !! you could then decide if it is a genuine VW dealership !!
If you go through the Dealdriver route you would not be committed to buy the car if the deal was not right for you ..

As I said in my previous post if you are not happy with Dealdrivers give Carfile a ring !! they work in the same way as Dealdrivers but I am sure Dealdrivers will provide you with a good service if you give them a chance

Thats a very good point. So simple it completely passed me by, thanks.

Yes, they are authorised VW retailers/dealerships...I don't know how else to answer this! One you have mentioned which you think is a VW dealership is not...it is a car supermarket.

Yes, we use normal VW main franchised retailers like the ones you mention. As stated twice, you cannot buy a NEW unregistered VW from anyone other than a VW dealership...so yes, of course they are VW dealerships..they cannot be anything else. You can't be the first registered owner buying from a car supermarket.

I don't know how plain I can be and it isn't a chore at all, its just that..as other posters have pointed out, we do as it says on the tin...and I did say this twice yesterday on livechat too...as I too have the transcript...I used the phrase "a genuine VW dealership" and a "normal VW dealership" throughout...I don't know what else to say really as there's no other way to describe VW dealerships...so that is the answer. Yes, yes, yes, yes!

    Thanks DD.

I'm sorry if I appear to be strong in my responses or questions or repeating what I ask, I just have to be sure in my mind that I dont get an import car. I'm sure you can understand that.

I will give you a ring when I am ready to order.
  • The buying process will be no different from walking into your local VW dealer except it will by done over the telephone with a VW dealership in another location

Try not to worry to much it really is that simple and I would not hesitate to go that route as thousands of other motorists have done before!! your warranty is the same!! you can have it serviced at your local VW dealer

Let us know how you get on and what motor you get

I haven't used dealdrivers, but a colleague did use one of their competitors. When ordering the car, he spoke to the broker on the phone, who took the exact details of the car he wanted and quoted him a price, which he was happy with. About 2 hours later, a franchised dealer phoned him back, went through the exact specification of the car he wanted to buy, answered all his questions, re-confirmed the price and, when he was happy, took a deposit (think it may have been £200) to secure the order. He opted to travel to the dealer in question - in the Midlands (Ford dealer) to collect the car when it was ready, but they did offer to deliver the car to his door if he preferred. There were no issues, it was a UK car from a main franchise dealer and he was - and still is - really happy. He doesn't like haggling, so going down this route he was really happy.

I wouldn't worry if I were you, I'm sure it will all be totally fine.
  • Tbh unless its a big cash saving you should go elsewhere as the attitude in this post regardless if you have been a pain is simply unacceptable.

I have not used Dealdrivers but have used Carfile but would have no hesitation in using Dealdrivers as I believe they operate in the same way as Carfile !!
All dealings are done through a main franchised dealer and they even took my part exchange in and any cash was paid to the main dealer !!

I will be changing my vehicle shortly and I will be going the broker route again
I can understand why the broker does not want his retail sources revealed

Well just to add that I have now used dealdrivers to obtain a quote on a new car and can say what a disappointing experience it was and I doubt I will be using them again .
After using Carfile last time there customer service was fantastic but as dealdrivers post on here thought I would give it a go .

Well I decided to phone them and told them the spec of the car I was looking at (colour, what extras I wanted ,what date I wanted it .) I received an email( rather than a phone call) for the wrong colour car no extras I wanted had been added .
I then phoned them and pointed this out and was told that is what they had ?? not really very helpful !!I am sorry to say they did not seem very interested in getting the business or go out of there way to answer any questions I had .

I am sure there are customers who have used them and were happy !! but after the excellent experience with carfile it was a big let down

Jack Sprat - I had a similar experience with them a few years ago so went and used Drive the deal who were a lot more helpful. Dealdrivers quoted a very long leadtime for the car I wanted, so I called and explained I couldnt wait that long, so if I was flexible on colour / spec could they find something quicker. Was told I would be called back next day. Waited a week and heard nothing so called them to have my head ripped off by someone who told me that I was told I would be called back when they had news......over two years later and I am still waiting for that call..

Drive the deal took my order and then got an Audi dealer to call me direct to agree spec and delivery times. All went very smoothly
  • So its not just me then being a grumpy old man !!Deal drivers talk the talk but do not walk the walk:rotfl:

The fact that I told them the spec of car I wanted !! what date I wanted to collect it for !!and what extras and colour I wanted !! if I was the salesman it would have told me that they had a customer who was serious about buying a car and had done his research !!
