    Hi there,

I went to Japan November last year and yes, it is a nightmare getting your head around the logistics as the Japanese make few concessions to those who don't speak their language!

It may depend on where you are in the country. However in Tokyo almost all signs are dual Japanese/English and so are announcements on public transport. I found it much easier getting around and finding assistance than in France for example.

If you're partial to sushi, make sure you stop by Sushi Dai at the Tsujiki fish market - the queue is usually about an hour but is completely worth it - absolutley sublime... :)
