If it wasn't for the fact that I can still print on my 4 laptops via this broken PC I might just take you up on the offer ps Luckily my 25 PC network at work still functions OK too!

Sounds like you've had a fun day, glad to hear you can at least reproduce the symptom on your own PC(s)!, have you subsequently followed your own advice before fixing it or has that advice fixed it? (CCleaner etc) :beer:

I've just typed up a fresh summary of everything that I did, and am going to try and break it again then try and get my son to fix it, using just my instructions.
If anything is unclear, I'll re-write them as [STRIKE]an idiot proof guide[/STRIKE] clearer user instructions;)
