Portable DVD Player or something to play them on

I am wanting to buy DD a Portable DVD player for her stay in hospital.
She is only 4 so don't want to spend too. It seems that most portable dvd players that are reasonable are only 7inch, but this does seem tiny. Does anyone have any experience with these.
Is there an alternative way of her being able to watch her DVD's on, I don't want to buy a laptop for her as I say she is only 4.
