Hi guys,
My daughter has moved away into a rented furnished flat. she has taken her belongings including a new tv. Total value of her stuff is about £1,500. She is working, not a student. Does anyone know of any basic, inexpensive policy to cover her contents?
thanks

Could she consider self insurance for this small amount if she isn't working i.e. no insurance.
It's unlikely to be all nicked at once and she doesn't have anything worth very much.
Worse case, how long would it take her to save £1500?0 -
Are you sure the total is £1500, when you insureyourself for contents you have to insure for the new cost of everything as claims are made on a "New for Old Basis" apart from clothing and linen.
So her TV that you think is worth £50 is probably actually worth £250 for insurance purposes etc etc0 -
Hi guys!
We think we have costed right, her new TV is only £250 and the rest is house and kitchen items, plus the clothes she had take. So, we think about £1,500 will cover it. Yes, she is working, so I don't think any sort of student insurance would cover things? Just need a basic cover, for is she is burgled and cleaned out or if there is a fire? There must be some inexpensive cover out there??????0 -
Endsleigh or Harrison Beaumont do cheap and cheerful policies for indivduals. They are not the greatest cover wise though.
Have you tried getting a quote for a normal ;policy which won't be much more expensive but will have better cover and will cover her for more contents so will be future proof0 -
check churchill - online - their standard policy for contents only covers the major risks only and usually pricewise is very competetive0
