How long between applying for mortgage and valuation

We accepted an offer on our home last Monday, and our purchasers had their mortgage application sent off on Wednesday.

How long normally can we expect to have to wait for the surveyor to call me to arrange for access to the property for valuation/survey?

Depends on the mortgage company and/or the broker. Can be as quick as 3 days, could take 2 weeks.

thanks for your quick reply. I suppose it's only been 3 working days, so I've just got to sit and wait - I'm so impatient!

I phoned my estate agents today, and was told quite firmly 'there's nothing we can do at this stage, all we can do is wait for the surveyor to contact you'

    Is this true?

Yep. Our buyer's mortgage application went in on 6th March, still waiting for news on survey :wall:

Waiting for another one of my calls to the agent to go unreturned as I write.

It varies from lender to lender. One time, I applied for a mortgage on the Monday and the valuer was arranging the viewing 2 days later. Another time, it took about 3 weeks.

The EA is correct. Nothing you can do about it. Stressful business innit?

tell me about it! I promised myself that this time I wouldn't get so wound up about the process, but that promise was soon broken!

With our lender it was a couple of working days between doing the application and the valuation/survey being done.

My mortage application went in almost two weeks ago, phoned building society this morning (Nationwide) and the valuation still hasn't been done.MA says he should be arranging it for this week.

Am starting to get a little impatient.
